Backward Walking Training Improves Balance and Speed of Walking in Subjects with Chronic Stroke

Post-test findings of a 4-week conventional stroke physical therapy program combined with backward treadmill walking significantly improved results of the Berg Balance test (p = 0.008), the Timed Up and Go test (p = 0.008), the timed 10-Meter Walk Test (p = 0.016) and forced expiratory volume in one second (p = 0.016) compared to pre-test scores.  (more…)

Gingko Biloba Extract (EGb 761) Improves Cognitive Assessment Scores Relating to Delayed Recall and Language in Post-Stroke Patients

Risk Factors for Ischemic Stroke Linked to Fatty Acid Profiles and Ratios

Findings of the prospective observational study show that risk factors such as dyslipidemia, atrial fibrillation, and smoking are strongly connected to fatty acids. Limiting or eliminating modifiable lifestyle risk factors such as smoking or alcohol consumption can positively influence the fatty-acids profile.  (more…)
