Backward Walking Training Improves Balance and Speed of Walking in Subjects with Chronic Stroke

Post-test findings of a 4-week conventional stroke physical therapy program combined with backward treadmill walking significantly improved results of the Berg Balance test (p = 0.008), the Timed Up and Go test (p = 0.008), the timed 10-Meter Walk Test (p = 0.016) and forced expiratory volume in one second (p = 0.016) compared to pre-test scores.  (more…)

Complex Phytoadaptogen Application Aids in Prevention of Chronic Periodontitis

Findings of the 28-day study show that treatment consisting of non-surgical periodontal treatment with the use of complex phytoadaptogens (70% alcoholic extract of G. glabra and 40% alcoholic extracts of R. rosea and A. senticosus in a 2:1:1 ratio) effectively relieves inflammation related to chronic periodontitis. Higher Yogurt Intake Associated with Lower Blood Pressure Levels in Individuals with Hypertension

Beneficial trends were noted for systolic blood pressure (b= -1.44, CI = [-2.71, -0.17], p < 0.05) and mean arterial pressure (b= -0.89, CI = [-1.65, -0.14], p < 0.05). (more…)
