Seabuckthorn Seed Oil Reduces Cardiovascular Risk Factors and Hypertension in Human Subjects

In a randomized double blind-placebo controlled study, seabuckthorn seed oil significantly lowered systolic (6.8%), diastolic blood pressure (5.5%), cardiovascular risk (20% total cholesterol), and increased antioxidants levels (6.4%) compared to baseline and placebo in a group of males living in high altitude.   (more…)

Flaxseed Helps Medications Further Improve Cholesterol Levels

In a study of 110 subjects with peripheral artery disease, those who were not taking statins found that milled flaxseed supplementation lowered their total and LDL cholesterol by 11 % and 15 % respectively and for those subjects who were taking statins, milled flaxseed supplementation lowered their LDL cholesterol by 8.5%.
