After 10 years, the participants consuming 1 serving per week of walnuts had a 15% lower risk of type-2 diabetes and those consuming 2 or more servings had a 21% lower risk of type-2 diabetes. From a total of 117 men, those who ate walnuts had a 3.5 % higher increase in blood levels of omega-6 fats and a 4.5 % higher increase in blood levels of omega-3 fats than the control group.
