Performing Acts of Kindness Improves Social Connection

While all social conditions (acts of kindness, social activities, and cognitive reappraisal) showed a significant linear improvement from baseline to follow-up for the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), only participants in the acts of kindness group exhibited a significant linear increase in the Social Connectedness Scale (SCS-R).  (more…)

Higher Serum Lutein and Zeaxanthin Levels Associated with a Lower Risk of All-Cause Dementia

Study findings using data from the NHANES III Survey (1988-1994) show that serum lutein+zeaxanthin was associated with a reduced risk of all-cause dementia, with an inverse relationship being noted between serum β-cryptoxanthin and all-cause dementia.   (more…)

Daily Peanut Consumption Associated with Improved Memory and Decreased Levels of Stress and Anxiety

Results of the study show that after six months of daily peanut consumption participant’s polyphenol and short-chain fatty acid levels significantly increased, resulting in lower anxiety, depression, and cortisol scores, while also resulting in improvement in immediate memory.
