In analyzing food records from 18,000 nurses, researchers found that those who regularly took a multivitamin supplements were 35% less likely to have reproductive health issues (infertility) than those not taking a multivitamin. The benefit was largely due to total folic acid intake.
In a recent study of over 31,000 women in Indonesia, those who took multivitamins throughout pregnancy and up to 90 months after birth had an 18% greater reduction in infant mortality, compared to those who took iron and folic acid supplements.
