Lavender May Benefit Mental Health for Women During Pregnancy

Women who used either a combination of lavender cream and footbath or lavender cream alone for 8 weeks, experienced a significant improvement in anxiety and stress; however, the greatest improvement was seen in depression, which decreased by 62.2% in the lavender and foot bath group and 40.9% in the lavender group when compared to the placebo group.  (more…)

Ayurvedic Herb May Benefit Cognition and Overall Mental Health in the Elderly

Written by Greg Arnold, DC, CSCS. A 12-week supplementation with Bacopa (3 mg daily) significantly improved the reaction time, anxiety, and depression in 24 participating subjects who were diagnosed “free of dementia symptoms”. However, the greatest improvement was seen in cognition, which was exemplified by a significant 17.35% improvement in “word recall”, compared to placebo. (more…)

Study Highlights Health Benefits of Maca Extract

Written by Greg Arnold, DC, CSCS. Those who lived in high altitudes and took either 3 grams of red or black maca for 12 weeks significantly improved their ability to utilize oxygen and improved symptoms of chronic mountain sickness while those who lived at low altitudes significantly improved their mood and energy levels with maca consumption compared to the respective placebo groups.
